Best California Beaches

California may be one state, but it has many different regions. Each has its own characteristics and distinctive beaches. The Northern California coast is wetter, with redwood forests, rugged coastal bluffs, beaches and plenty of wildlife.

In the midst of the urban Bay Area you will also find marvelous beaches. Many of these beaches are windy and the water cold. But if you know where to look, you can find protected beaches popular for sunbathing.

Further south are major surfing spots in Half Moon Bay and Santa Cruz. On California's central coast you'll find the beauty of Big Sur, the charm of Carmel and the luxury of Hearst Castle. This is the region of Monterey Bay, Pismo Beach, Santa Barbara and Ventura.

From Los Angeles down to San Diego, you'll find sunny beaches with plenty of sand and plenty to do.

There's plenty to explore for all beach lovers.
