Changing RV power source

Question: Is there a switch to transfer power to battery use when power is off?
Answer: In general, the batteries are always available to run 12 volt items, such as lights. If you are trying to run appliances or devices that plug into electrical outlets, then you need an inverter that converts battery power to 110V.

Note that if you try to use the inverter/batteries as the power source for appliances or devices that have a heavy draw (coffeemakers, microwave, hair dryer, etc.), you will quickly run down your batteries. Battery power is typically not sufficient for those types of appliances.

For specifics you should see the manufacturer specs for your RV, or contact the manufacturer if you do not have adequate information in your owner's manual.
