Newfoundland and Labrador Campgrounds

by Mark Walsh
(Quispamsis, New Brunswick)

There are some very fine campgrounds in the Province of Newfoundland and Labrador.

Gross Morne National Park has many campsites and many with wilderness settings which are my favourites. Terra Nova National Park also has large sites to accommodate any rig. Sir Richard Squires Park has some of the best salmon fishing in North America. At Big Falls you can see salmon "jump" the falls.

Scenery is spectular. Hunting and fishing are abundant outside the parks. There are thousands of moose in Newfoundland and care should be taken when driving.

There are thousands of small towns and fishing villages and Newfoundlanders have a well deserved world famous reputation for their hospitality which is unsurpassed. If you stop to ask someone directions to a campground do not be surprised if you are invited to park your rig on his property. And do yourself a favour; accept the invitation. This place is truly heaven on earth.
