RV parking in Boston

by lemino
(Israel)

Question: We're planning our very first RV vacation through the New England area and we need to find a parking for the day time as close as possible to Cambridge or Boston (MA). We were advised to leave it at the train station parking but the operator of the parking informed us that there is a height limit (usually 6'8") and our RV is 11'8" . How can we find an open air parking lot that will allow long vehicles in? Thanks for your help.

Answer: We don't have any info at hand that would help. We wouldn't drive our large motorhome into downtown Boston - it is not the easist place to get around in if you are unfamiliar with the city.

Perhaps you can find a nearby campground and inquire of that RV park ahead of time about commuting options into the city. If you spend a day sightseeing, it would be good to have a comfortable base to return to for the night. See http://www.campmass.com/ for campground listings.

You may be able to find parking at one of the commuting lots or stations further away from the city, but it is probably difficult to do that research.

We are posting this question so perhaps others can offer suggestions.

I called the store today, March 28, 2012 and they told me they don't allow overnight parking. Hmm.

Parking near Boston with RV
by: Anonymous

I am from the Boston area. Most local people take the train or subway and don't drive into Boston downtown. Parking is a problem and expensive in a car. Parking for a Red Sox game $60-$90.00.

There is a K-Mart in a strip mall in Somerville about 2 miles from Boston. You can park an RV in that parking lot and stay overnight, there is no charge. You can walk to the subway station which is 1 mile, you can see the station from the parking lot.

This is the adress 77 Middlesex Ave., Somerville, Ma.02145 phone 617-628-9500
