Workamping

Question: I am recently retired and want to travel around the country in my RV. I am not sure if I want to give up working all together. Are there any options to continue working while on the road?

Answer: RVers can find jobs workamping in campgrounds, selling products at RV rallies and shows, in online businesses, casinos, retail, theme parks and so on.

As you ponder various types of work, it's a good idea to give some consideration to your individual needs and preferences. Think about factors such as the length of time you want to stay in a particular location, the number of hours you want to work, if you have sufficient space to run a business of your own, if you want to carry inventory, etc.

Thinking about the nature of work you want to do is important in finding a job that successfully meets your needs and that of your employer.
Feel free to take a look at our list of considerations for working on the road.

As you look through listings of workamper jobs, you will notice that some offer a full hook-up site in exchange for a given number of hours worked. Some offer an hourly wage for additional hours worked. Some pay for all hours worked and provide a free site. The compensation offered needs to be considered in conjunction with other job perks, location, type and amount of work required and your own personal preferences.

Earn While You Travel
by: Kurtis

Southeast Publications USA Inc. gives it's associates the opportunity to travel the U.S.A., camp for free and make money while doing it. We offer free campground maps to the RV parks in return for a two week stay for our sales associates. While staying in the park, find advertising for the map from the surrounding businesses. This pays for the map and provides supplemental income. Visit http://www.sepub.com for more information.

Pluses of Workamping
by: Anonymous

Workamping is a great way for senior retirees to have some adventure and supplement their income while geting to stay a long time at great places; in our case Yellowstone and Glacier NP.

We've done it for 7 of the past 8 summers. We clear about $500/wk. working 40 hrs(total of 80). There is a large variety of jobs for many different employers. All the way from volunteering 20 or so hours a week for a free site to 40 hrs a week for hourly pay.
