Replacing a Motorhome Side Mirror

Replacing a Motorhome Side Mirror

by Randy (Leavenworth, WA)

Question: Does anyone know how to replace a side motor home mirror? I broke the mounting post on the power passenger side mirror, but the mirrors are fine. How do you remove the mirror housing without breaking the mirrors?

Answer: We are posting your question in case anyone has an answer. We would try a call to the motorhome manufacturer to see if they can offer any help. You can also try looking online for an owners’ group/forum for your brand and/or model of RV. Other thoughts welcome.

Mirror Repairs to dual mirrors with heat and remote control..

by: judy

Had to replace the upper mirror and internal post that got eaten by a bridge abutment early on in our fulltime RVing lifestyle. It took many hours to get the mirror apart and repaired. I ordered the parts and even though they came with full instructions (fairly clear and diagrammed), getting the system apart was a real pain.

If I had to do over again and could afford it, I would buy the whole mirror! We are still novices and now I have a left lower mirror to replace on the drivers side. Hopefully the post is not cracked.

Our 2001 Windsong (Forest River) has the large dual mirrors with the heated upper remote and the concave lower manual adjust with heater. Very tight to get in and out of the mechanism to unscrew the post and replace it and then reposition the mirror back on the system. TAKES LOTS OF PATIENCE!!!
