In this guide we walk you through the best RV vacuum models out there.
Question: I am looking for a good, but small RV vacuum for our new RV. Those I have looked at seem to have insufficient power suction.
I would like something compact in size, but with enough power and flexibility to clean the RV floors and upholstery. Do you have any suggestions?
Answer:
You might want to check out the RV central vacuum available on Amazon.
Honeywell 4B-H703 Central Vacuum System Power Unit
Would strong recommend a central vacuum system that will be much cleaner to manage. The Honeywell 4B-H703 Central Vacuum System listed above is what we use personally.
To cater to different situations, having a vacuum kit such as this will be very helpful. It is designed to fit the vacuums of any major brand, including Honeywell, Electrolux, Eureka, Hoover and AirVac. When you need to clean hard to reach places in and around your RV, this vacuum kit will be a godsend.
Some people put the unit in a bay and install things so the just the hose connection is in a convenient place inside the RV. We didn’t bother going to any trouble and instead just keep the unit in a cabinet, with the hose and attachment in a nearby storage drawer.
It makes a lot of noise, but it works well. We had tried other small vacs before and as you say, nothing that is small enough for a motorhome has enough suction. We have had the central vac for several years now and are very pleased with it.
Reader comment:
I purchased a Shop Vac wall mount unit, which has a narrow cylinder body. The unit can mount in a closet, is detachable, and has a 20′ hose, which from the center of my rig can almost reach both ends.
Upon arriving in Florida on my first winter full timing the toilet developed a crack and water started to leak toward the carpeted areas. The Shop Vac was able to suck up the water before any damage was done. I also use it for the carpets in my car, as well as the storage bays under the motorhome. I was just under $50. Good luck and safe travels.
