Question: I would like to know if the LP generator and battery can run the Microwave in my new Keystone Springdale which I just bought two days ago. When I disconnect the power source from the house the microwave powers down. Battery is fully charged and LP tanks are full. Checked the breakers which are all still circuited.
Answer: We can tell you that for our own own RV, we really can’t run our microwave off the batteries. We have an inverter so the battery power will convert to 110 volts, but the microwave has such a powerful draw that it would only run on battery for a very short period of time (minutes?) and you can hear it struggling. So we don’t ever try to run it off battery power.
We have a diesel-powered generator (8.5 KW Onan), and we can run the microwave and everything in our motorhome off the generator.
We suggest you check your owner’s manuals for what your batteries and generator can support and how it should be done. If that doesn’t help, contact the manufacturer. All RVs are a little different.
